Fun Fact!

In 1947, six acres of Arroyo Burro Beach Park were purchased from the State of California, and an additional 6.8 acres were leased. In 1968, the State granted this leased land to the County. In the 1990s, an additional acre for parking was dedicated to the County by a private land trust.

Santa Barbara County Parks is proud to offer a free-of-charge beach wheelchair at this location. The wheelchairs were acquired through the California Coastal Commission’s Whale Tail Grants Program. Reservations are recommended prior to your visit.

Dogs

Arroyo Burro Beach Park is a popular destination for our four-legged friends, whether it be to splash among the lapping waves, take a scenic walk on the bluffs of the Douglas Family Preserve or get a warm bath in one of our self-serve dog wash stations. Dogs must be leashed at all times while at Arroyo Beach Park and all County Parks; however, just adjacent to the park is the Douglas Family Preserve where dogs may roam off-leash. Dogs may also be off-leash on the beach just east of the creek.

Special Features

The Watershed Resource Center is a site for community and student education programs that enhance our awareness about the importance of watershed resources, how these resources are impacted by human activities, the role watershed restoration plays in improving water quality, and ways that our community can actively protect our creeks, wetlands, and ocean. To schedule field trips or community programs and for additional information about the WRC, contact Lindsay at (805) 884-0459 x16 or email [email protected].
